SENDING MUSIC TO TPV: WHAT WE LOOK FOR AND HOW TO DO IT PROPERLY

Nov 22, 2025

Send us your music by link or download. Keep your message simple. We listen for originality, clarity of vision and a genuine connection to sound, not numbers or trends.

Introduction

A lot of artists ask how to send music to TPV and what we look for when choosing what to play. There is no complicated process behind it and no hidden criteria. We do not use forms, algorithms or submission platforms. We listen to everything sent in, and we make decisions based on interest, honesty and sound rather than marketing or follower count. This guide explains how to send music, what helps, and what does not matter at all.

How to Send Music

The simplest way to send music is by email or direct message with a link. Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Dropbox or a private streaming link all work. There is no preferred format as long as it plays. There is no need to attach large files unless requested. Keep the message clear and short. Introduce yourself, share the track or release and add any information that genuinely matters to the music. Long biographies, press releases and marketing language are not needed.

What We Listen For

We do not look for a specific style. The station plays a wide range of genres, and we are interested in anything that feels honest and well considered. This could be ambient, folk, experimental electronics, jazz, club music, lo fi recordings or something that does not sit neatly anywhere.

The key things we listen for are:

A sense of identity
It does not need to be polished, but it should feel like it comes from a clear place.

A connection to sound
We prefer music made with intention rather than trends. It can be raw or refined as long as it feels genuine.

An interesting idea
It could be structure, tone, texture or mood. Something that shows thought and curiosity.

A track that stands on its own
We hear a lot of music built around familiar formulas. Anything that avoids the predictable stands out quickly.

What Does Not Matter

Follower numbers do not matter. Release plans do not matter. Press quotes do not matter. Whether a track has been playlisted elsewhere does not matter. We do not look at monthly listeners or engagement rates.

The only thing that influences our decision is the music itself. If we like it, we play it. If it does not grab us, that is not a judgment on the artist — it just means it is not right for the station.

How Long It Takes for Us to Listen

We try to listen to submissions as soon as possible, but the time can vary depending on what is happening with the station. Some weeks we move quickly. Other times it takes longer. There is no automated system. Every track is listened to by a real person.

You do not need to chase or follow up immediately. If you have not heard back, it is usually because we are working through a backlog, not because the music has been ignored. We try to respond to everything, but we do get a lot of emails. Regrettably we are unable to everything we receive. We are very particular in what we choose to broadcast. If you don't receive a reply, it doesn't mean your music isn't good, simply that it's not a good fit for us.

What Happens If We Want to Use Your Music

If we choose to play your track, we will let you know. It may appear in a mix, a show or part of our regular rotation. We always credit artists properly. If you want to send further releases, you are welcome to. We like working with people who treat music with care and who share the same values around independence and community.

Final Notes

Sending music to TPV is a simple process. There are no hoops to jump through and no industry expectations to meet. If you have something you believe in, send it. We cannot promise that everything will be played, but we can promise that everything will be listened to with attention.

Independent radio relies on people making and sharing music for the right reasons. If your work sits in that space, it has a place here.
